The main similar project to "Beautiful" is Ron Howard's "A Beautiful Mind". This is the story of John Nash a mathematical genius who suffers from schizophrenia. This mental illness at first is a blessing to him as he was a man without friends, his illness gave him a friend who let him let loose once in a while. But as the movie continues he starts to see more sinister people who torture his life with a secret government mission. It is not just the story of this film that i admire, it is Ron Howard's subtle and elegant portrayal of the troubled mind of John Nash. He manages to show the slow progression of a serious mental illness from its small roots to its horrifying hight and treatment. To find out more about John Nash as a mathematician, a person and his battle with schizophrenia visit these sites: Fight Club Fight Club was an instant cult classic with its obvious questioning of western society and consumerism. This is the theme that continues throughout the film but is not what has inspired me in my film. The inspiration I have drawn from this film comes from the Tyler Durden character. He is handsome, cool, smart everything Jack wants to be. Jack idolizes Tyler and helps him set up Fight Club and then Project Mayhem. the sudden realization that Tyler is projected from his own mind comes as both a shock to Jack and the audience. Throughout the film we see both jack and Tyler talking and interacting so the subtle hints about reality are unnoticed.
